The City of Winona has been awarded $200,000 for Recreational Park Improvements. This grant was applied for by the previous administration, under the helm of Aaron Dees, Mayor, and the Board of Aldermen Mickey Austin, Travis Johnson, Archie Flowers, Charles Harris, Jr., and Linda Purnell.
North Central Planning and Development District will be administering the grant for the city. Current Mayor Jerry Flowers was very pleased to find out that this grant had been approved during a press release from U. S. Congressman Bennie G. Thompson. The U. S. Department of Interior National Park Services has awarded $200,000 through the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) grant to the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks for the City of Winona to make substantial recreational park improvements.
The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks has proposed improvements including new tennis and pickleball courts and renovation and installation of new playground elements in the City of Winona.
