To Citizens of Winona, Mississippi from Mayor Jerry Flowers

I hope everyone is safe and warm during this severe weather event. As of now, the City employees are working diligently to get our water back on. At this minute, a large generator is being installed at the water well and treatment plant on Greensboro Street, with water expected back on by 3 to 5pm. Please bear with us because our city workers from the water department, street department, police force, and fire department are the best and are working hard to get our water back on. They are working in extreme conditions.

I have just been told from Entergy that, hopefully, the main power line coming into the substation south of Winona will be repaired today allowing parts of Winona to have electricity. At this time, Entergy is hoping to have the hospital and nursing home up and running first today with other parts following at some point. Again, Entergy, Delta Electric, and City of Winona employees are heroes in my book because of working in these extreme conditions.

Please say a prayer for all of these individuals. Please be patient and we, as a community, will get through this ordeal together.
